In the spring of 2006, a group of Fairbanks bellydancers began to discuss the concept of a new style of dance. After testing the waters with summer performances, Cold Fusion was founded in October 2006 by Mary Haley. Although Fairbanks has a long history of cabaret dance, Mary found a group of dancers eager to explore tribal fusion and Indian dancing.
Since then, Cold Fusion has performed at a variety of events, including:
* Voodoo Moon * Haflaween * Dragged North Variety Show * 3rd Coast Roses Showcase * ArctiCon * Carpe Nocturne * Ester Library Lallaplaooza * Clucking Blossom * Secrets of the Oasis * Diwali * First Friday at the Discovery Lab * Fleurs du Mal Burlesque * Midnight Sun Street Festival * Angry, Young and Poor * Beluga Nights * Drag'd Through the Ages * For the Love of the Dance *International Friendship Day * Golden Days Street Festival * Tanana Valley State Fair and many haflas and private parties
The dancers of Cold Fusion have a broad background in many dance styles, including ballet, jazz, burlesque, African, Bollywood, bhangra, Odissi and hip hop. Troupe choreographies include elements of these varied dance styles.
